FAQ's - Public Day Tours

What is a public day tour?

Public day tours are tours that have been developed by Cole's Coaches and are available to the general public.

How do I find out about forthcoming day tours?

Contact Cole's Coaches and instruct them to inform you of any forthcoming tours before released to the general public. Tours are also advertised on this website and in the local papers.

There are four options:
· Phone 03 55 620055 during business hours;
· Email bookings@colescoaches.com.au,
· Fax 03 55 612860 or
· Use the booking form for the specific tour chosen on this site.

You will need to provide the name of the tour you are wanting to book on, the number of tickets required and your contact details. Cole's Coaches will then contact you to confirm your booking. Any weekend or public holiday bookings will be processed on the next business day. Bookings after hours will be processed the next business day.

Methods of payment accepted at the Cole's Coaches booking office include cash, cheques, EFTPOS and credit cards. Cheques are to be made payable to 'Cole's Coaches'. Cheques can also be sent by post to PO Box 77, Warrnambool, 3280. Please ensure that a note with your name and the tour you have booked accompany the cheque.

Should you wish to make a payment on a Saturday morning, Harvey World Travel will accept cash payments only. Harvey World Travel is open from 10am to 12nn and located at 118 Lava Street, Warrnambool (opposite Coles Supermarket).

What is included?

Inclusions differ for each tour, however they normally include your coach travel, ticket or entry to an event or attraction, and in some cases a meal. Morning and/or afternoon teas are also included on some tours.

Can I be collected or dropped off at my place of residence?

Unfortunately Cole's Coaches can only collect and drop-off people at the set points due to timetable restrictions.

What time do I need to be at the departure point for the tour?

It is recommended that you arrive at the departure point at least 10 minutes prior to the stated departure time.

What do I need to bring?

Your receipt of payment is your ticket for the tour. Tickets to shows or attractions are distributed on the coach.
Since you are not driving, you can have a snooze in the comfortable, reclining seats and may wish to bring along a small pillow and blanket. Most of the coaches have cold drinking water available and are located at the rear of the vehicle near the restroom, however you may wish to bring your own water or bottle drink.

Do we stop for toilet and food breaks?

Itineraries vary for each tour, however for Melbourne tours, one stop is usually made in Winchelsea or Colac for a break. Toilet breaks are sometimes taken at Colac. A restroom is available for use on board most of the coaches.

Do we stop on the way home from an evening Melbourne event or show?

Cole's Coaches normally express home without stopping (refer to the specific tour itinerary). This is due to there being limited food places to stop in the late evening and people wanting to arrive home at a reasonable hour. It is suggested that people travelling on these types of tours bring or purchase a snack (cold only) for the journey home.

Can I consume food and drink on board the coach?

Yes, however Cole's Coaches does not allow any hot food and/or drink on board the coach. This is due to the smell it can create throughout the coach or also the safety aspect of spilling hot food or drink on another person. Bins are located on board for rubbish.

Is the consumption of alcohol or smoking allowed on the vehicles?

The consumption of alcohol and smoking is not allowed on any of the vehicles on a public day tour.

Can I reserve seats on board the coach?

Seats on the coach can only be reserved in two cases, one for people that suffer from travel sickness or disability and two, for people that may be boarding at towns such as Terang, Camperdown or Colac.

How are seats allocated for shows or events?

Seats at shows and events are allocated to people as they make their booking. People who book first will be allocated the best available seats.

If travelling to a show or venue, can I be seated at the venue with my family or friends?

Yes, please advise the booking agent and this will be arranged.

How safe is it travelling by coach?

Statistics show that coach travel is the safest form of land transport, safer than rail, and some 20 times safer than travel by private car. A number of Australian Design Rules introduced in the 1990s mean that the Australian bus and coach fleet is progressively becoming one of the safest in the world.
(Source: Hon John Anderson MP Minister for Transport and Regional Services, 1999 Australian Bus and Coach Conference, Hobart).

Do Cole's Coaches cater for specific dietary requirements?

Is there disability / wheelchair access for boarding the coaches?

Your coach captain will be on hand to assist. Front seats can be reserved for people with a disability. Wheelchairs can be stored underneath the coach.
